We Are GENERATION REDIRECT™
GENERATION REDIRECT™ is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that provides service opportunities and educational experiences to minority communities. Our vision is to revitalize the fabric of the family and community with knowledge and resources that produce opportunities to sustain life and impact society. This vision simply, yet elegantly, articulates the goal of GENERATION REDIRECT™ and will galvanize our efforts to execute this vision with vigor and a strong sense of purpose.
Our Mission
To make an indelible mark in minority communities through educating, transforming, and empowering young minority men and women through the institution of systems intended to re-establish and redirect their focus and outlook in society, to encourage the thirst for knowledge and divine understanding, to realize and embrace the value of diversity and respect for mankind, and to produce the next generation of community leaders to carry us into future generations.
Our Focus
GENERATION REDIRECT™ pivots around 4 core principles, which are: Family Dynamics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Education and Mentorship, Workforce Skills Development, and Civic Engagement & Outreach, with each principle, are positioned to derive executable activities that are geared towards driving positive change within ourselves, our communities, and society in general.
Family Dynamics
We strive to re-establish the value and importance of family, regardless of whether its the more “traditional” family unit or modified family as a result of life’s circumstances.
We look to provide resources, implement programs, as well as generally recognize the efforts of young mothers and fathers and re-position them to their rightful place within the family unit, empower healthy relationships amongst parents and their children, as well as foster emotional growth and prosperity as families continually deal with life’s challenges. Given today’s socio-economical climate, we feel that the value and importance of family has been lost, and we’re looking to change that.
Workforce Skills Development
Through Workforce Skills Development, we cultivate programs designed to help upskill the future workforce. With today’s society becoming more and more technologically advanced, it’s important that we empower individuals to embrace this change and adapt their skills to be more competitive in the market of today…and tomorrow.
At GENERATION REDIRECT™, we look to introduce programs and resources that aid in this effort with the goal of turnout out more qualified people to take on the more challenging jobs that enter our market daily.
STEM Education and Mentorship
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education has become a critical need as we continue to operate an an ever evolving, technology-based society. We here at GENERATION REDIRECT™ believe in empowering our youth to become the next generation of scientists, engineers, educators, and artists and implement programs designed to expose minority youth to scenarios and situations that they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience.
Together with our community partners, we look to expose our youth to the rich ecosystem of STEM related programs as well as allow them to partake of the tremendous knowledge of individuals within STEM fields to educate, motivate, and inspire.
Civic Engagement & Outreach
At the core of GENERATION REDIRECT™ is civic engagement and outreach. We believe that building strong communities are what’s going to help propel our society forward. This means being actively engaged in helping our homeless and less fortunate, supporting the democratic process of encouraging voter participation as well as actively collaborating with local, state, and federal leaders to affect change, and generally promoting good stewardship of the communities in which we serve.
To that end, we execute programs that aggressively pursue the aforementioned areas and look to build partnerships to make even great levels of impact.
Connecting Individuals and Organizations to Help Communities Tackle Their Toughest Challenges
Generation Redirect™ collaborates with various community outreach institutions, Greek-lettered organizations, churches, and other non-profits to expose our communities to knowledge and resources as well as promote service opportunities and community involvement. There is potential growth in everything you do, learn, and seek.
Our Partner Organizations
The Northern Virginia Community College supports GENERATION REDIRECT™ as one of its partners. The Woodbridge, Virginia Campus has served as a venue for many GENERATION REDIRECT™ events, and the Provost of NOVA (Woodbridge Campus) has previously served as an inaugural member of the GENERATION REDIRECT™ Board of Advisors. GENERATION REDIRECT™ partners with the Prince William County Sheriff’s Department through initiatives geared at redirecting our youth and young adults within the detention home and penal institutions with the intent of injecting a sense of responsibility, preservation of life, and a motivation to rise above the negative situations that impede progress and instill a desire to become more productive citizens and contributors to our society.
The Epsilon Sigma Boule has joined our network of partners and supports GENERATION REDIRECT™ in the execution of its STEM education and mentorship programs for our community of youth. We are indeed thankful to the Archousai for their generous support and look forward to a continual partnership with should an outstanding group of men.
